Welcome to my costume analysis of the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine to Nemesis-era Starfleet jumpsuit and the corresponding sewing tutorial.
I primarily researched and analyzed this uniform for my (Bad Wolf Costumes) sewing pattern, but I'm happy to share my research and sewing tutorial with you here.
This is an older costume analysis and sewing tutorial (circa 2015) that I plan to update and post on my Star Trek Costume Guide blog, but most of it still holds true.
In the meantime, if you enjoy this resource, please support my costume research on Ko-Fi!
Every bar of gold-pressed latinum helps me produce more sewing/costuming resources like this. :)
I've got a question.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently working on the yoke (A muslin at this time). In page 97, you mention:
"Once quilted, serge the entire quilted assembly."
I'm new at serging (just got a serger a month or so ago). Do you mean to keep the cutter on the serger? What settings do you use for your serging? what type of stitch?
I like to serge with the blade, but trimming off as little as possible; this makes the edges nice and flush (if they aren't already).
ReplyDeleteAny overlock stitch no wider than your seam allowance (3/8" in this case) is fine. I have my serger set to a 1/4" stitch width.
