Exceptions and Oddities, part 1

As can be expected during 2 ½ seasons and 3 feature films of continuous use, as well as intermittent appearances over 4 ½ seasons (separately), there were numerous exceptions and oddities over the years that this uniform was used.

Firstly, unlike the VOY jumpsuits, which were consistently worn with a front opening in multiple styles (closed up to the yoke, or closed up to a few inches beneath the yoke) amongst the cast, the DS9/NEM uniforms seem to have been intended to be worn closed all the way to the bottom of the yoke.

That is, except for O'Brien and Bashir, who always wore their jumpsuits in the same manner as their previous VOY jumpsuits - that is, with a "taller" front opening which extended several inches beneath the yoke.

Broccoli wore his this way, too, albeit with a less pronounced front opening. 

So did this lady - and, incidentally, she had the widest front opening we ever observed. 

For one episode, and one episode only, Jadzia wore her uniform "partially unzipped" for some reason; it was definitely intentional, not merely a case of the hook-and-eye closure being unclasped ... maybe they were just trying it out?

She was getting married that week and was probably under quite a bit of stress, so maybe we can cut her some slack ...
