Why we call it the "DS9/NEM jumpsuit"

We call this the "DS9/NEM duty jumpsuit" because, although it was first introduced in the second TNG film, First Contact, the majority of the time this garment was in use and seen on screen (both in terms of longevity and production) was during the last two and a half seasons of Deep Space Nine. These garments underwent some experimentation and evolution, ultimately culminating in those seen in TNG's final outing, Nemesis, which we regard as the finalized, ideal versions.

A cadet version of this jumpsuit was seen in the Deep Space Nine episodes "Valiant" and "Field of Fire," which we call the "DS9/NEM cadet jumpsuit" to distinguish it from the duty jumpsuit for actual crew (officers and noncoms).

Hence why we call it the "DS9/NEM duty jumpsuit!" or, occasionally, the "DS9/NEM jumpsuit" for short.

As mentioned above, we regard the jumpsuits in Nemesis as the finalized, idealized, construction standard, and we will primarily be concentrating our analysis on the garments in that film. When introduced in First Contact, these jumpsuits were a bit different than their finalized versions, and the ones seen throughout the last two and a half seasons of Deep Space Nine and intermittently throughout Voyager were all over the place. We'll take a look at those, too, but we've established our "hero standards" primarily on the jumpsuits seen in Nemesis

Now, onto an analysis of the garment itself!
